Sow Days

Remember when we were young and we would wish for snow days all winter long? Back in Tennessee when it snowed even a quarter of an inch school would be cancelled and Knoxville would turn chaotic. Meanwhile I would sleep late and the go out and play with my parents. We would build snowmen (I even built a snow dog one year), have snow ball fights and make snow angels. Those were good days.

Then we grew up some and the rents made us start shoveling. I didn't actually like shoveling until last winter...which it turns out would be my last winter to shovel so much snow (There are people hired to shovel at the condo).

I always like snow though...I guess maybe I appreciate it more than others because there wasn't so much in Tennessee. It always bugged me when people complained about snow and cold in high school and it still bugs me now. I'm glad more people appreciate it now though. I guess leaving for college helps too. It seems to me that if you're "stuck" in a cold climate with snow, you might as well make hte best of it. Enjoy the snow before you have to shovel it. In the extra time it takes to get to work/school, you have more quiet time to think/be by yourself. You can revert to your childish self even if just for a little while...go out and play with friends, family, pets...etc. Forget exams, responsibilities, and general crap in your life for just an hour.
Anyway I'm incredibly happy to have a real winter this year.

Pretty Girls

So last night Hallie and I went to see Mike Kostka and Mike Weber at Shaws. That was kind of interesting...not really, but kind of. I wanted to see if Weber hit on Hallie. As I predicted though, it was Mike Kostka who was more outgoing. Maybe Weber is just shy?

The Pirates staff guy (I always forget his name) asked if he could take a picture of us with the guys for the news page today. He actually almost pleaded, because we were little hesitent...but obviously we weren't going to say no. So I felt kind of short next to Weber since he's 6'3, and by my definition, you have to be at least 6'3 to be considered tall. Have you ever been slightly felt up by a hockey player? I have, once before, Mike Wall. I tell you, there are too many Mikes in the world. (I don't really care about the feeling up though because they aint gettin' none!)

Now off to take pretty picture of the snow. I love snow! I wish I had a dog to play with in it...soon enough though, soon enough.

Pirate Radio

It was great. The music alone was worth it, but the movie itself was hilarious. There was one point when I realized that the boy looked like Harlan. Then a few minutes later Emma realized he reminded her of Myles. Lost a little bit of appeal for us after that, but still really great...just not the boy. That was just weird.

We also had a nice, long talk at Silly's beforehand. Made me think. Touchy subject, love. Personally I think the meaning has been beaten out of it. Just a word now. That's not to say there isn't a meaning or it doesn't exist. I just don't think it's as common as other people seem to think.

I also found out that I'm not the only one who can't say "I love you" to my family. It's not that I don't feel it, just that when it comes to saying it, my mouth won't open. I only say it to a couple of good friends. I think I probably said it most to Krystal. I generally prefer animals to most people anyway (except for my friends of course!)

I think I should end there...12 days until my puppy arrives!

Proposal

So I'm watching Serendipity right now. It's one of my favorite chick flicks, which I believe I've mentioned before. However, each time I watch it, I realize how horrible Lars's proposal is. First, the rose petals on the floor are romantic, but if someone did that to me, I hope they would be the ones cleaning it up afterward, because I sure wouldn't do it. Second, I like the idea of the giant wrapped box with smaller boxes inside until the smallest box holds the ring. In Serendipity though, the box is empty. In my opinion it's not okay to propose without having the ring there. Don't propose without a ring!

That's all I really have to say for now. Might have more after seeing Pirate Radio with Emma.

I'm A Mother??

I'm getting my holiday present early. His name is Digit, but I plan to rename him. He's an adorable boxer/lab mix. Completely unexpected and different from what I was looking for. My mom said we could look at other dogs, since being in Maine wasn't a necessity anymore, but I feel as with a child, you find one and you see the picture, and you love it. I won't look for a more attractive one, because he's a beautiful puppy in his own right. It's a shame someone hasn't adopted him sooner. I wish I could take him and Tramp, but that would probably be too much to handle at the moment.

Anyway I'm incredibly happy to give him a wonderful life and loving home, just like I was given. There are so many children and animals who aren't given that chance. We adoptees are incredibly lucky. That's something I never forget.

It was only slightly marred by a certain bitch tonight. I acted like it didn't affect me, but it did. I wish my skin was as thick as I make everyone believe. I won't stoop her her level, but it still hurts. So I'm kind of bummed tonight.

Here's a list of potential names for my new puppy:
Luca (bringer of light)
Brandon (named after Brandon Saller)
Ladislav (glorious warrior/would be named after Ladislav Smid)
Mazal (lucky)
Nathan (gift from god)
Raoul (wolf counsel)
David (beloved)
Simon (listening/would be named after Simon Ferguson)

Please Don't Go, I'll Eat You Up, I Love You So

Indeed, I went to see Where The Wild Things Are with Hallie today. I thought it was amazing. Possibly the best movie I've seen all year. I can't really remember all the movies I've seen this year thoughh, so can't be sure. There is no way a child would really understand that movie. So many things that aren't said outright. Yes, it had sad moments, but it had really funny moments too. There was only one other person in the theater with us, so we were free to laugh loudly at the funny parts.

I knew going into it that my friend cried a little bit when she went to see it. She doesn't cry as much at movies as I do, so I figured I would. I teared up a few times, but I only really wanted to cry when Max said good bye. I waited until after the movie on the drive home to let it all out. There was a lot to let out. I had been feeling kind of down since yesterday and now I feel a lot better.
I guess that brings up the good-bye. In case some of you didn't know, I hate good-byes. Most of the time I find ways to get out of them or I'm really awkward. I wouldn't stay when my dog was put down because I didn't want to say good-bye or believe she was really leaving. I hated going back to college after spending a weekend at home last year and I would cry all the way to the NH border each time. I hated that I didn't get a chance to say good-bye to my cat when he died, but was relieved at the same time (I had a dance performance that night and my parents didn't tell me until I got home). So me + good-byes = No. Right now there's only one good-bye I'm worried about and that's what's been getting me down. I'm desperate to not let it happen. I think I've been hiding it pretty well.

Desperate? Yeah. I'd do anything to avoid it. You know when something is just out of grasp and you can finally touch it...go to grab it, and fall over without it. It's something like that. A little cliche, but I couldn't think of a better example. I'm grasping right now and hoping like hell I won't fall.
I think I'll end there. I had another part to add, but I'd rather not give too much away. It's possible I already have and I'm beginning to think I should just...

December

I can finally play my Christmas music without feeling guilty/weird!
Currently Playing: Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) - Mariah Carey, I'll Be Home For Christmas - Rascal Flatts

This month is started off strangely without snow. Was there snow here last year at this time? I don't know. I was in New York. Crappy weather there. I really want snow though. I love walking in it and dancing around in it. (Though I dance around in any weather hot, snowy, rainy, windy, etc) Driving is not as fun and it takes longer to get places, but still I want snow. I guess everything just seems so much happier and magical with snow.

I have high hopes for this holiday season. A dog seems promising, which is what I want most for a holiday gift. Finding a tree and decorating it. Baking nana's famous holiday cookies. Gift shopping. Hallie will be here for the New Year hopefully and all my friend at college will return. More Hockey and the All Star Game.

If I had to make a list:
  1. Dog
  2. Happiness for those who may not have as much as I do, but deserve it equally
  3. Anything from Victoras Secret is great
  4. Rubber ducks (I collect them) I have enough devil ducks though. Thanks guys, I get the point! :)
  5. VS Very Sexy Eau de Parfum (running out!)
  6. Coach Tartan Spotlight Bag (Only in my dreams...)
  7. Nathan Gerbe Jersey (again only in my dreams...not him! The Jersey!)
  8. Good Seats to a Bruins/Sabres game in April
  9. Japanese Cook Book since Iszy has mine and I probably won't ever see it again haha
  10. Jewelry is always good
  11. Crazy/colorful socks
  12. Zoo Tycoon 2 for mac (yup i'm a nerd)
  13. Sims 3: World Adventures
Anyway that's just a tentative list. The first 2 are my biggest wishes.
