Remember when we were young and we would wish for snow days all winter long? Back in Tennessee when it snowed even a quarter of an inch school would be cancelled and Knoxville would turn chaotic. Meanwhile I would sleep late and the go out and play with my parents. We would build snowmen (I even built a snow dog one year), have snow ball fights and make snow angels. Those were good days.
Then we grew up some and the rents made us start shoveling. I didn't actually like shoveling until last winter...which it turns out would be my last winter to shovel so much snow (There are people hired to shovel at the condo).
I always like snow though...I guess maybe I appreciate it more than others because there wasn't so much in Tennessee. It always bugged me when people complained about snow and cold in high school and it still bugs me now. I'm glad more people appreciate it now though. I guess leaving for college helps too. It seems to me that if you're "stuck" in a cold climate with snow, you might as well make hte best of it. Enjoy the snow before you have to shovel it. In the extra time it takes to get to work/school, you have more quiet time to think/be by yourself. You can revert to your childish self even if just for a little while...go out and play with friends, family, pets...etc. Forget exams, responsibilities, and general crap in your life for just an hour.
Anyway I'm incredibly happy to have a real winter this year.
